Dr. Amy Lee Gabbitas, clarinet, is one of the founders of Aspen Winds. She freelances all over the Wasatch Front, including large ensembles such as the Timpanogos Symphony Orchestra and Orchestra at Temple Square. Her teaching activities encompass a private studio, summer clarinet professor at MAT (Music, Art, Theatre) camp, frequent clinics in Utah schools and woodwind coach at Springville High School. Amy also manages the BYU Instrument Office. In 2017 so won the Russell Harlow clarinet competition.She holds a DMA in clarinet performance from the University of Utah along with Master’s and Bachelor’s degrees from BYU. Her former teachers include Kathy Pope, David Randall, Daron Bradford, Cindy Child, Ray Smith and Bill Holman. She is a past president of the Utah Music Teacher Association Provo/Orem chapter, frequent presenter/performer at Utah Clarinetfest and Utah Music Educator Association (UMEA) conference, and sought after adjudicator for solo/ensemble. A proud military wife (Cpt Rick Gabbitas, chaplain, UNG) and mother of five, Amy enjoys residing in Springville, Utah. Her other hobbies include sewing, hiking, reading and spending time with her family.
